Give Back And Have An Epic Journey Along The Way - Morocco 2020
In partnership with Journeys with Heart and powered by Intrepid, I'm thrilled to host “MREHBA” (WELCOME) - Morocco Real Food Adventure in support of Community Food Centres Canada.
Dates: 18 Apr - 04 May 2020.
Why Support Community Food Centres Canada?
Millions of Canadians struggle with poverty and food insecurity. It takes a toll on their physical and mental health, and on the fabric of our communities. Community Food Centres Canada take action by building vibrant centres and programs in low-income communities where food is used as a tool to build health, belonging, and social justice.
Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of low-income Canadians and help power a national movement. Through this trip and your donation to Community Food Centres Canada, more food-insecure kids have access to healthy food and the chance to develop healthy eating habits. More families have a place to go to have delicious and nutritious community meals. More isolated seniors can come together in the kitchen to learn new skills and meet new friends. And more people struggling with poverty and food insecurity can speak out so we can change the system. (courtesy: Community Food Centres Canada)
Experience Morocco's Vibrant Culture and Mediterranean cuisine through an authentic lens
When people throw around the word ‘exotic’, they’re probably referring to places like Morocco.
Places where riding a camel over dunes while the sun shimmers dramatically on the horizon is not an unusual thing. Where tagines come spiked with saffron and argan, carpet merchants haggle in the bazaars and Berber tribesmen herd goats on the slopes of the High Atlas Mountains. A Morocco tour is basically the answer to all your Lawrence of Arabia-type fantasies (right down to the swirling white djellabas): you’ll stay in historic riads, camp beneath the Saharan stars and enjoy some classic Maghreb hospitality (usually featuring plenty of cous cous). Whether it’s the wind-battered port town of Essaouira or the crumbling Kasbahs and oases of the deep desert – ‘exotic’ doesn’t come close.
Clear your plate for flavour-filled Morocco, where Berber, Arabic and European influences mix to create an adventurous culinary cocktail. Follow the smell of food through mesmerizing markets and master recipes taught by those that know them best. Grab street food from a souq and share traditional meals in local homes. Take a handful of bustling medinas, mix with a dash of sea and season with fresh local produce, all drizzled with warm Moroccan hospitality for an adventure that will linger long on the tongue and in the memory.
