This golden, spicy shrimp will have you reaching for seconds, guaranteed! Pair these skewers with a fresh squeeze of lime and a sprinkle of chopped herbs for an extra burst of flavour.

This shrimp seasoning for grilling is super easy—I promise!

  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Sea salt

How to make them in 4 steps

Step 1: Preheat the Grill & Prep the Shrimp

Get your grill going on medium-high heat. You want it nice and hot when the shrimp hits the grates. begin by rinsing the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. You want the shrimp to be thoroughly dry.

Step 2: Mix the Ingredients

Toss the shrimp in a large mixing bowl. Add the garlic powder, chilli powder, turmeric, oil, lime, and salt on top. Yes, we’re all about easy cleanup and no faffing around!

Just pop on a glove and give those shrimp a good mix, coating them in all that spicy, limey goodness. No need to marinate, honestly—they’re so flavorful thanks to the seasoning.

Step 3: Skewer the Shrimp

Thread the marinated shrimp onto skewers, piercing each one in two places—starting at the tail end and then through the thickest part. You want 5 shrimp per skewer, making a total of 6 skewers.

Step 4: Grill the Shrimp

Place the skewers on the preheated oiled grill. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side.

Then, turn and grill for another 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp are cooked through and opaque.

Once off the grill, give them a fresh squeeze of lime juice and garnish with chilli flakes and cilantro or parsley leaves — if you’re feeling fancy.

  • 30 shrimp, 375 g, large, frozen, deveined, defrosted and dried
  • tsp chilli powder, hot, Indian
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
  • ¾ tsp sea salt
  • 2 tbsp lime juice, freshly squeezed

  • lime, segments
  • chilli flakes
  • cilantro or parsley leaves

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high.
  • Toss shrimp with garlic powder, chilli powder, turmeric, olive oil, lime juice and salt.
  • Thread the marinated shrimp onto skewers, starting from the tail end and piercing through the thickest part. Aim for 5 shrimp per skewer, preparing a total of 6 skewers.
  • Place the skewers on the preheated grill. Grill for 3-4 minutes on one side, then carefully flip and grill for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the shrimp are opaque and cooked through.
  • Remove the skewers from the grill and squeeze fresh lime juice over the shrimp. For added flair, garnish with chilli flakes and cilantro or parsley leaves.
